A Journey of Compassion
Koduvally Muslim Orphanage (KMO) was founded in 1978 and registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 (Reg. No. 17/78). KMO is affiliated to the Board of Control for Orphanages and other Charitable Institutions, Govt. of Kerala.
What began as a humble initiative to protect orphan children — both boys and girls — by providing food, clothing, medical aid, and education has grown into a comprehensive educational and welfare ecosystem. In recognition of this work, KMO received the National Award for Child Welfare, Govt. of India, in 1992.
Today, KMO manages a network of educational institutions offering boarding facilities for boys and girls from KG through secondary level, with Madrassa education up to 10th standard. Students who complete SSLC or Plus Two receive free access to graduation, post-graduation, TTC, and B.Ed courses within KMO institutions, along with vocational training in Automobile, Civil Draughtsman, Plumbing, Wiring, and Fashion Designing through KMO's ITI. Interest-free loans are also provided for higher studies outside KMO.
KMO continues its mission through the support of local donations, community fundraising, and grants from the Govt. of Kerala.
Our Milestones
1978
KMO was officially established, opening its doors to provide shelter to orphans.
1985
Inauguration of the first primary school, laying the foundation for educational excellence.
2004
Establishment of the KMO Institute of Teacher Education (D.El.Ed), advancing teacher training in the region.
2005
Establishment of the Arts & Science College, bringing higher education to the region.
2010
Launch of the B.Ed College and modern ITI facilities, equipping youth with professional skills.
2015
Establishment of the KMO Islamic Academy (Hudavi), offering integrated Islamic and secular higher education.

In 1978, Pareekutty Haji saw the unmet needs of orphaned and underprivileged children across Malabar and responded with action — founding Koduvally Muslim Orphanage (KMO) to provide shelter, education, and Islamic values to those who needed it most.
Under his visionary leadership and the sustained generosity of the community, KMO grew from a humble orphanage into a campus of 9 premier institutions over five decades — educating thousands of students and shaping the civic and spiritual fabric of Malabar.
His foundational philosophy focused on child-centric welfare: providing not just shelter, but a holistic home ecosystem that combined care with high-standard academic and vocational learning. Today, his legacy continues to guide KMO's mission as a beacon of education and welfare.
